Why I first ran for trustee and what are my hopes and vision for the community: My decision to run for Village Trustee was in great part attributed to being raised in a household that placed an importance on service. Service was not an option it was just done, and without question. This fundamental belief was instilled by my father who epitomized government and community service. His example was on display through service as a firefighter, Village Trustee, and ultimately Mayor of Winthrop Harbor. None of this service was easy, but nothing was more satisfying. I am proud to follow his example. Sitting on the village board provides its share of challenges. I have to say, with partiality, that this is clearly seen with Public Works. Almost 40 miles of municipal roads, water lines, sewers, landscaping, snow removal and much more. It seems we are doing more and doing it with less. But, we truly have a great team of dedicated employees who make what seems insurmountable look easy. With limited resources we provide great service to our residents – and wish we could do more. I want to be part of a village board that can change with the times without compromising our outstanding quality of life. Winthrop Harbor has, is, and will always be in my heart. I look forward to representing the village for many years to come.
