Family: My wife Cindy and I have two grown children Christopher and Carrie. We also have our grandson, Harrison.
Community/Public Service Positions Held: I have served as Mayor since 2017, proudly on my second term. I previously served on the Village Board from 2005 to 2009 as a Village Trustee. Since 1998, I have served as President of the Village of Winthrop Harbor’s Police Pension Fund. A Rotarian since 1987 I served as President for the Illinois Sunrise Beach Rotary from 2003 to 2005, Youth Exchange Chair from 1999 to 2012, and Treasurer from 2015 to 2020. I have been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 2015 and a member of the finance council since 2000 at Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church. In addition, I was Boy Scout Troop 66 Assistant Scout Master from 2001 to 2019.
Why I first ran for Mayor and what are my hopes and vision for the community: To whom much is given, much is required. These are more than words, they hold meaning to me. This sentiment, life requirement, was handed down to me from my parents and Cindy and I have handed the same to our children. Service has always been a priority to me and service first begins at home, then the wider community and then greater world. My vision for Winthrop Harbor has and continues to include strengthening our infrastructure, diversifying the local economy, strong intergovernmental relations that will assist us in lessening the property tax burden on our residents. I also want to create a community where we can age in place. Finally, I always, always want to make sure that we can deliver the highest level of public services within our budgeted dollars.
