The Winthrop Harbor Foreign Fire Insurance Board consists of seven trustees - the Fire Chief and six members of the Department elected at large by the sworn members of the Department.
Foreign Fire Insurance Boards are authorized by State Statute; the Winthrop Harbor Foreign Fire Insurance Board was established by Ordinance, and operates under rules specified by the State and Village.
The Board is responsible for allocating insurance taxes paid by a defined group of insurance companies insuring local properties for the maintenance, use, and benefit of the Fire Department.
The Board has regular meetings scheduled each quarter to which the public is welcome. Meetings are held in the Training Room of the Fire Department at 11:00 am. Agendas for regular and special meetings are posted in accordance with Statute.
